Let’s Channel Presidential Election Energy into Local Campaigns

Presidential campaign fever is rising, although we’re 16 months away from the election.  This past weekend (July 16-17), for example, the Obama campaign sponsored a voter registration drive on the Marietta Square.  All well and good (as long as we’re registering Democrats).

JUST REMEMBER: We Cobb Democrats are going to have to show sustained support for Cobb and Georgia Democratic candidates, in addition to turning out to help re-elect Obama.  Our local Democrats are going to need money and manpower to make a respectable showing in the 2012 elections—much less to get elected.  AND THEY NEED YOUR SUPPORT NOW.

Have you contacted a local Democratic elected official to see what you might do to help them get re-elected?  Made a donation to their campaigns or to the Democratic Party?  Offered to volunteer on their behalf?  WE CAN’T WAIT UNTIL THE LAST THREE MONTHS OF THE 2012 CAMPAIGN SEASON TO GET ENGAGED.

Let’s make our involvement with the Obama campaign an addition to—not a distraction from—involvement with our local and State candidates.

Get involved now. Contact the East Cobb Democratic Alliance. Chair Tom Barksdale 770-715-1218, tbarksdl@aol.com.
